The Adjoint of a Bilinear Operation

چکیده
In a previous paper (Arens; these references are to the bibliography of the present paper) there was investigated (in a more general, abstract setting) the process of forming the adjoint operation m*\ Z-XX^Ydefined, for fEZ~, xEX, by TM*(f, x)(y) = f(m(x, y)) (y £ F). The simple proof that m* satisfies 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 with the same value of M is given in (Arens). This construction can be iterated, and the previous paper was concerned with showing that, in almost every conceivable sense, the operation m***: X—XY—-+Z—

Sharp Linear and Bilinear Restriction Estimates for Paraboloids in the Cylindrically Symmetric Case
For cylindrically symmetric functions dyadically supported on the paraboloid, we obtain a family of sharp linear and bilinear adjoint restriction estimates. As corollaries, we first extend the ranges of exponents for the classical linear or bilinear adjoint restriction conjectures for such functions and verify the linear adjoint restriction conjecture for the paraboloid. We also interpret the r...
متن کاملNonlinear Hilbert Adjoints of Fliess Operators
Given a causal analytic nonlinear input-output system represented as a Chen-Fliess functional series, this paper investigates how to apply an existing notion of a nonlinear Hilbert adjoint operator to explicitly compute a corresponding adjoint operator. The method is demonstrated for the bilinear case.

Without the factor of 1 2 , this would be the semidirect product Lie algebra for the usual action of gl(n,R) on R. With the factor of 1 2 , the bracket does not satisfy the Jacobi identity. Nevertheless, it does satisfy the Jacobi identity on many subspaces which are closed under the bracket. In fact, we will see that any Lie algebra structure on R is realized on such a subspace. If B is any bi...
متن کاملA Specific Form of Grothendieck's Inequality for the Two-dimensional Case, with Applications to C*-algebras
for self-adjoint x,y. This is not true for \V(x,y)\ or for non-self-adjoint elements, though Grothendieck-type theorems assert the existence of other states ', ijj' giving such inequalities with an intervening constant. This result is an essential lemma in Haagerup's proof of the C*-algebra version of Grothendieck's inequality. A second essential, and rather tricky, lemma (Lemma 3.2) deals w...
متن کاملON THE STATIONARY PROBABILITY DENSITY FUNCTION OF BILINEAR TIME SERIES MODELS: A NUMERICAL APPROACH
In this paper, we show that the Chapman-Kolmogorov formula could be used as a recursive formula for computing the m-step-ahead conditional density of a Markov bilinear model. The stationary marginal probability density function of the model may be approximated by the m-step-ahead conditional density for sufficiently large m.
